Whatever is Pure, January 2003 The Unforgiving Servant Forgiveness is one of the cornerstones of our faith. Yet sometimes seems the hardest to practice. Hurts, betrayals, slander, the list of what society views as unforgivable, is a long one. We seem to have accepted this view as just that, unforgivable. We have an obligation to forgive others, even if they do not come seeking our forgiveness, and even if they repeatedly continue to come against us. That can be a very hard thing for us to accept. Everyday it seems we see unspeakable acts committed on others and think, "How can that ever be forgiven?" When others hurt us we tend to blame God. We live in a society that is into the blame game, giving excuses for wrongs committed. We must remember that God does not direct evil against us. He will allow us to walk through trials as a result of our own sinful actions. Refusing to forgive will result in our being cut off from fellowship with God. When we walk in unforgiveness we go against one of the most precious acts that God gives us, and we then fall out of fellowship with Him. How do you react when someone hurts your child? You become justifiably angry. So does God. When we choose to walk in forgiveness we are allowing God to not only heal us of the hurt, but also correct and deal with the one who hurt us. Love is the prime ingredient to forgiving. By emulating God's unconditional love to others, it enables us to forgive. Showing mercy to others through forgiveness frees us to receive God's blessings. Forgiveness brings good to you, forgiveness benefits you, it allows you to walk in love, peace and joy. Have the hurts piled up over the years, do you believe that not only can you no longer even attempt to forgive, but you are also unforgivable? Tell that to God. Seek His presence and ask for His help. the wonderful thing about our Heavenly Father is that it is never too late for a second chance. Start right there where you are. God is right beside you. © Reginna reginnak@ktc.com Email for permission before using in any format. We gladly accept submissions for the Whatever is Pure E-zine.
